History Of BWF World Tour Finals, Indonesia Has Only One Title

JAKARTA Indonesia has only collected one title in the history of the BWF World Tour Finals, the tournament closing the annual season in the badminton tour calendar.

The BWF World Tour Finals was first held in 2018 to replace the BWF Super Series Finals. Thus, this year is the seventh edition of the event. This tournament is usually held in December. The 2024 edition will take place on 11-15 December at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China.

BWF World Tour Finals is an important event that is only attended by the top eight singles/pairs in each number in the Road to BWF World Tour Finals ranking. The determination of the BWF World Tour Finals ranking is carried out by accumulating the points obtained in the World Tour BWF tournament in one calendar year.

This year, due to the 2024 Paris Olympics, gold medalists from each number in France will automatically appear in Hangzhou later.

Indonesia will have six singles/pairs that will appear in China in this year's edition. They are all spread in five match numbers. Women's singles and men's singles as well as women's doubles and mixed doubles each have one representative. The men's doubles sector has two representatives who qualified there.

Although six editions have been held, Indonesia is recorded as still dragging the title. The only representatives who have won this event are the pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.

The Daddies won the title in the 2014 edition. At that time they won two straight games over the Japanese pair, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe. In the 2022 edition, Hendra/Ahsan also returned to the final round. However, they had to settle for being runners up after being held by the Chinese pair, Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi.
