Indra Sjafri Opens Independent Media Cup 2024

Indra Sjafri held a coaching clinic at the Mandiri Media Cup 2024 (VOI/Cosmas Kopong Beda) event.

JAKARTA Indonesia U-20 National Team Coach Indra Sjafri officially opened an intermediate soccer tournament, Mandiri Media Cup 2024.

The 61-year-old tactician marked the opening of this event with a symbolic kick-off at the ASIOP Stadium, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, on Monday, October 28, 2024, morning WIB.

Indra hopes that in the future the Media Cup can add other activities besides tournaments and coaching clinics that exist on this year's agenda.

"It is possible that next year other activities will be increased again. Hopefully, it will run smoothly until the end. Whoever the champion is, all media friends are the champions," he said.

The Mandiri Media Cup 2024 was held thanks to the support from Bank Mandiri as the main sponsor.

Other sponsors are Erspo, PSBS Biak, Persibo Bojonegoro, ASIOP Stadium, Specs, NOC Indonesia, Orphys Sports Clinic partners, Pospay who are supporting sponsors, PSSI, PT LIB, and Kemenpora who are official partners.

After the opening, the 2024 Media Cup also held a coaching clinic with participants from Java Soccer (27 children and 1 coach), ASIOP (25 children and 1 coach), and SSB Putra Agung (10 children and 1 coach).

This year the 2024 Mandiri Media Cup participants are ANTV, TV ONE, Kompas TV, TVRI, TRANS 7, Metro TV, Bola.com, Detik.com, SKOR.ID, MNC Portal, Java Pos, SCTV, INews TV, Tribune Network, CNN Indonesia TV, and ANTARA.

This year's tournament uses a new format of two legs that is different from the previous two editions. Prior to that, the competition first held a playoffs that brought together four media.

In addition, the Media Cup also presented innovations by broadcasting all matches on the PSSI Press YouTube. The second leg of the round of 16 will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, and the quarter-finals to the final on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
