Indonesia International Challenge 2024: Men's Singles Civil War

JAKARTA The Indonesian men's singles number must have one ticket to the semifinals of the Indonesia International Challenge 2024 after two of them clashed in the top eight.

In total, Indonesia has three male tuggal representatives who reached the quarter-finals. The duel between the two compatriots took place between Yohanes Saut Marcellyno and Muhammad Reza Al Fajri.

Saut qualified after stopping the men's singles from Sri Lanka, Rasindu Hendahewa, two straight games 21-10 and 21-9 at East Java Expo, Surabaya, Thursday, October 24, 2024, evening WIB.

"I'm happy to be able to get through this match well. I'm certainly happy to be able to put up the best fight in this match," said Saut in a statement.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Reza Al Fajri reached the last eight of the tournament thanks to a straight two-game win against China Taipei's Fang Jiun Kai, with a score of 21-10 and 21-15.

Reza said the duel against his seniors certainly had its own challenges. The reason is, they often train together so that their weak points can be exploited easily.

"While training, of course, I suffered a lot of defeats to Saut. For tomorrow's match, I tried to give my best," said the men's singles ranked 206 in the world.

Another quarter-final ticket from the Indonesian men's singles was secured by Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay. He stopped China's Taipei representative, Cheng-Han Tsai.

In the quarter-finals, Friday, October 25, 2024, Ikhsan, who is the fifth seed, will face the second-seeded Japanese men's singles, Riku Hatano.
