Aston Villa Vs Fulham 3-1: Trezeguet's Brace Aligns Himself With Joachim And Yorke

JAKARTA - Two goals by Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet against Fulham in Sunday's Premier League match saw the Egypt international match the goals scored by two previous Aston Villa players, Julian Joachim and Dwight Yorke.

Coming off the bench to score twice in his side's 3-1 win, Trezeguet became the third player in club history to score at least twice as a substitute.

According to Opta, the first player to do so was Yorke, who scored twice against Liverpool in May 1994.

Then in 2000, Joachim matched that feat in crushing Derby County 4-1 in September. Replacing the injured David Ginola in the 19th minute, England forward beat Estonia goalkeeper Mart Poom in the 28th and 87th minutes.

As for Trezeguet, the former Kasimpasa player who replaced Anwar El-Ghazi in the 62nd minute, scored his first goal of the night in the 78th minute - to cancel out Aleksandar Mitrovic's Fulham opener.

Three minutes later, he beat goalkeeper Alphonse Areola with his second after receiving an assist from Keinan Davis. Three minutes from time, Ollie Watkins sealed the victory for Dean Smith's men.

Not only that, Trezeguet's brilliance last night made his name recorded as Egypt's fourth-highest goalscorer (with eight goals) in the history of the English elite division. He overtook Ahmed El Mohamady.

After the match, Smith expressed his excitement over Trezeguet's performance which changed the tone of his team's game against Parker's troops.

"There is a good response today. Ty (Mings) finally got an assist for Trez and then Keinan came on and made another assist for Trez, "he told the club website.

“They (Fulham) are not a bad team. I don't think they have to be where they are now, but you have to play what's in front of you. "

With this result, Aston Villa moved up to ninth with a collection of 44 points from 29 matches.

Meanwhile, Fulham (26), who have suffered three successive defeats, are stuck in the red zone at number 18, still three points adrift of the safety zone.
