JAKARTA The basketball legend who was included in the NBA Hall of Fame, Dikembe Mutombo, died of brain cancer at the age of 58.
Mutombo started treatment for brain cancer since October 2022 before being reported to have died on Monday, September 30, 2024, evening Indonesian time.
"Dikembe Mutombo is truly extraordinary. On the pitch, he is one of the best defenders and shooters in NBA history," said NBA commissioner Adam Silver, quoted by BBC Sport.
During his time of actively playing, Muchombo was recorded eight times as part of the NBA All-Star. He then decided to retire in 2009.
