Not Playing In Serie A, Varane Decides To Retire And Get A New Job

JAKARTA - Raphael Varane decided to hang up his boots at the age of 31 and will soon announce his new job.

The retirement announcement comes just two months after officially joining Serie A club Como on a free transfer.

Varane made his debut when Como faced Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia. However, in that match, he suffered a knee injury in the first half.

The injury was also a factor for him to make the decision to end his football career.

However, it is likely that Varane will remain in Como. The Sun said that the former Real Madrid and Manchester United defenders were withdrawn to occupy the team's coaching staff.

"That's how it is, a new life begins off the field. I will stay in Como. It's just that, without wearing football boots and dry bone protectors. Something I want to share further soon," he said.

Kans Varane joined Como's coaching staff quite large considering that the club, which had just been promoted to Serie A, was led by Cesc Fabregas.

Varane's experience can obviously be a valuable asset for Como. The club nicknamed I Larani needed a lot of experienced people because they last played in Serie A two decades ago or to be precise in the 2003 season.

Varane is a suitable figure thanks to 360 appearances for Real Madrid for 10 years with three La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.

When he joined Manchester United in 2021 at 42 million pounds, he played 95 games with the Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles.

Varane also became the French squad when he won the 2018 World Cup. He has defended his country 93 times.
