Hong Kong Open 2024: Komang Wants To Pay For Failure

JAKARTA - Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi confirmed herself to be the first Indonesian women's singles to reach the second round of the Hong Kong Open 2024.

The badminton player from Bali passed the first round of this tournament after winning two straight games 21-16 and 23-21 over the Indian women's singles, Tanya Hemanth, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, morning WIB.

Komang, who performed solidly in the first game of the match, said that he still had many obstacles on the field, making it difficult for him in the second game.

"Luckily when I fell behind earlier, I was able to find the right rhythm again and turn things around," he said in a statement received from PBSI.

This is the second tournament of Komang this month. Previously, the 21-year-old athlete appeared at the China Taipei Open 2024 which took place last week.

While playing there, this badminton player who was born in Buleleng lifted his suitcase at the earliest. He returned home in the first half after losing to China Taipei's singles, Liang Ting Yu.

Komang hopes that the unsatisfactory results can be paid in higher-level Hong Kong within the BWF World Tour calendar.

"After poor results at the China Taipei Open 2024 last week, in terms of both physical and mental readiness I feel better now. I want to do my best in this tournament," he said.

In the second half, Komang will be challenged by the women's singles from Thailand, Pornpawee Chochuwong. This will be the first competitive clash between the two badminton players.

Komang is one of three Indonesian women's singles who play in Hong Kong. The other two are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani.
