JAKARTA - Aerobic gymnastics athlete from DKI Jakarta, Krischayani Kurniawan, won a gold medal in her first participation in the XXI/2024 National Sports Week (PON) of North Sumatra-Aceh. She achieved this brilliant achievement after becoming the best in the women's individual number of aerobic gymnastics, which took place at the Disporasu Sports Hall, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Saturday, September 7.

"Alhamdulillah, this is according to the target, getting PON gold. This is the first time I have participated in PON as well," said Krischayani, who is familiarly called Icha, after the medal presentation procession.

Previously, Icha only won a bronze medal in the pre-PON event. However, through hard work and continuous intensive training, he managed to achieve the gold medal target at this PON. In order to achieve optimal results, Icha underwent a strict training program under the direction of his coach, without holidays, with practice sessions morning and afternoon every day.

One of the biggest challenges he faces is to overcome pressure and fight yourself. He admitted that he was nervous ahead of the match, but thanks to good control on the pitch, he was able to show his best performance. Support from parents who come directly to the competition arena is also an additional motivation for Icha to give her best performance.

"I want to make my parents proud," said the 21-year-old girl.

DKI Jakarta aerobic gymnastics coach, Fahmy Fachrezer, revealed that although Icha had just entered the senior category, her performance improvement graph continued to increase. Initially, Icha was only targeted to enter the top three, but thanks to careful training and focus during the race, he managed to surpass the target.

"In a competition like this, the key is calm. Thank God, he was able to focus on his movement and finally performed smoothly," said Fahmy.

Fahmy added, with a young age and great potential, Icha is projected to participate in international events such as the SEA Games. According to him, Icha has great potential that can still be developed, especially because the golden age of gymnastics athletes can last until the age of 24 or even 26 years.

In the race, Icha recorded a final value of 18,650, ahead of its competitors. This value consists of an execution assessment of 7,700 points, the beauty value of movement 8,050, and the difficulty value of 2,900.

The silver medal was won by Della Rosse Ananda Purbowo from East Java, with a total value of 18,450. Meanwhile, the bronze medal fell to Elmalia Virdania Putri from Yogyakarta, with a total final score of 17,800.
