China Taipei Open 2024: Putri KW Tested By Tai Tzu Ying

Putri Kusuma Wardani made it to the quarter-finals of the China Taipei Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Putri Kusuma Wardani, qualified for the quarter-finals of the China Taipei Open 2024. She will meet with the first seed, Tai Tzu Ying.

Putri extended her journey in this event after winning two straight games 21-8 and 21-16 over Malaysia's representative, Kisona Selvaduray, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at noon.

This is Putri's easiest win from two matches that have been undertaken. Previously in the first round, the seventh seed was forced to play a rubber game against South Korean representative Kim Ga-ram.

"For today and yesterday, I tried to enjoy the game. Even though there are a few obstacles and tensions, I can get through that. Before playing, I have watched the opponent's game, so there is already an idea of what pattern I should apply," said Putri after the match.

The clash between Putri and Tai Tzu Ying in the quarter-finals will take place Friday, September 6, 2024. The duel was their first competitive meeting.

Putri said that she was not afraid even though what she was facing was the former world number one and is still one of the top players today.

"There are still opportunities even though the top players, the hosts, and the first seed. I want nothing to lose, to show the best game," said Putri.

Putri is the only Indonesian women's singles to survive in this competition from the two representatives who were fielded. The other is Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi who has returned home in the first round.
