Leo/Bagas Don't Want To Fast Fast Fast After Winning Korea Open

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana admitted that they did not want to be satisfied quickly after winning the BWF Super 500 Korean Open 2024 tournament title, Sunday.

Leo/Bagas said they would immediately focus on preparing themselves for the BWF Super 500 Hong Kong Open tournament and the BWF Super 1000 China Open tournament, this month.

"After this we will focus again on facing the next matches in Hong Kong and China. Understandably, after getting off the podium, we must not think about becoming champions," Leo said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 1.

This new pair won their first title after two field days. Last week, Leo/Bagas ended their journey at the 2024 Japan Open in the semifinals, along with another new couple, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, who both debuted in the BWF Super 750 tournament.

"Alhamdulillah, I can play well as desired and can appear as a champion for the first time as a new partner. Last week at the Japan Open we were stuck in the semifinals and at the Korea Open we won," said Leo.

"Alhamdulillah, I am very happy to be able to win the Korea Open. Finally, we were able to break the egg after being dubbed a silver man. Today can finally become a golden man. I am very grateful to be given a win," added Bagas.

Meanwhile, Leo/Bagas won the Korean Open 2024 title after defeating the first seed as well as the mainstay of the host Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae 18-21, 21-9, 21-8.

Leo/Bagas revealed that the key to their victory over the world champion lies in an evaluation that was immediately carried out after losing in the first game.

It also made their mistakes in the first game that they could be fixed in the second game, until they finally won.

"In the third game, we are even more confident after winning in the second game. Moreover, Mas Bagas has a strong smash so he can cover my full from the back sector. I just have to look after the front box area," said Leo.

"In the third game we are very confident again. Moreover, appearing in the final is no longer talking about engineering and others. It just depends on how mentally to play brave," he added.

Bagas also gave credit to Leo who could perform well in the front area and serve, making it easier for him to launch attacks.

"Because from the front game we were already ahead, we were able to attack. This condition made us more confident in the second and third games," said Bagas.
