Taking A Dream Of Winning A Gold Medal Again, The Jakarta Men's Basketball Team Is Released With A Family Hug

The DKI Jakarta men's basketball team was released to the 2024 Aceh-North PON (doc. Perbasi Jakarta).

JAKARTA - Warm hugs and accompanied by blessing colored the release of the Jakarta men's 5X5 basketball team ahead of departure for the 2024 PON. Hendrick Xavi Yonga and colleagues were released with emotion in order to pick up the dream of reclaiming the gold medal.

Before leaving for Aceh to take part in the 2024 PON, the players, coaching staff, family, and Perbasi Jakarta management held dinner with Paa Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The atmosphere was warm and full of kinship.

The head of Perbasi Jakarta, Lexyndo Hakim, deliberately held a dinner with the players' families so that prayers and blessings were screened for the success of the men's 5X5 basketball team at the 2024 PON.

At the four-year national biggest event, Perbasi Jakarta hopes that the gold medal tradition can continue in the men's team.

Starting his remarks, Lexy, as he is familiarly called, expressed his gratitude to all the athletes who are Jakarta sports heroes.

"Work hard in training and daily life on the plate (regional training camp) will be proven in the field later when the match starts, there are droplets of sweat, tears, prayers, and great hopes to accompany you."

"Before starting the struggle, of course the blessing and prayers of parents will be a very valuable provision in PON later," he said.

On this dinner occasion, Lexy also gave understanding to parents so they don't have to worry about accommodation and others while at the 2024 PON. Perbasi Jakarta will prepare supporting factors as much as possible.

"Before the players departed, we had sent an advance team to regulate all the needs of the players. We have been very, very much supported by the Jakarta Provincial Government, in this case, the attention of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Office, KONI DKI Jakarta, all related parties."

"Everything off the pitch, God willing, we will give our best so that the players will only focus on the game," said Lexy.

After dinner, the players were seen hugging each other and asking for prayers and blessings from their parents. One of the Jakarta men's basketball team players, Hendrick Xavi Yonga, hugged her mother tightly so she could bring the gold medal home.

"From childhood until now, my mother has never tired of giving support. So, I hope that with her prayers and blessings, in this 2024 PON, Jakarta can win a gold medal again," said Yonga.

At the 2024 Aceh PON, the Jakarta men's 5X5 basketball team was strengthened by Aaron Nathanael, Almando Davin, Ananta Dandy, Hendrick Xavi Yonga, Michael Pang, Muhamad Hafizh, Azriel Ralie, Raihan Azzuri, Ralph Mulia, Djalu Pangestu, Rivaldo Pua Dawe, and Sultan Prawira. The head coach is filled with Tondi Raja Syailendra and Rastafari Horongbala as Team Advisor.

The Jakarta 5X5 basketball team departed for Aceh, Thursday, August 29, 2024. The inaugural match will take place, Monday, September 2, 2024.
