Badminton Iconist Supporter Yanto Muamar Dies

JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton world is shrouded in sad news. Indonesia's iconic badminton supporter, Haryanto Muamar, or familiarly called Pak Yanto died at the age of 59.

The sad news was conveyed by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) through an official Instagram account on Saturday, August 24 morning.

"The sad news from the Badminton World. The legendary Indonesian badminton supporter, Haryanto Muamar or who is familiarly called Pak Yanto passed away at the age of 59 on Friday (23/8) at Pandan Mewah Hospital, Malaysia, at 16.50 p.m. Malaysian time," wrote PBSI.

Pak Yanto is one of the supporters who always supports Indonesian representatives wherever they compete. He usually comes directly to the stadium with an eccentric window.

"PP PBSI expresses its condolences for the death of Pak Yanto. Your enthusiasm for supporting every Indonesian badminton struggle will always be remembered. Thank you for all its sincerity. May his deeds of worship be accepted by Him. May the family left behind be given fortitude and patience. Amen," continued the PBSI article.

Pak Yanto is always seen in the stands of the Istora Senayan Jakarta stadium every time the BWF World Tour events are held at that place.

During the 2018 Games in Jakarta, the man from Surabaya came to GBK in a very striking costume. He wore a red and white suit, from pants, T-shirts, jackets, caps, necklaces, to glasses.

In addition, he also puts a small "Red and White" flag on his knees and on top of the cap. The attribute is equipped with a bamboo stick with an Indonesian flag in large sizes.

Not only in the country, Pak Yanto often gives support to Indonesian representatives abroad. He is noted to have attended events such as All England and the XVII Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
