PBSI Did Not Reveal The Reason Herry IP Failed In The Selection Of National Training Coach

Herry IP is not included in the list of PBSI Cipayung National Training (doc. PBSI) trainers.

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) has strong reasons for the failure of Herry Iman Pierngadi in the training process at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.

Deputy Chairperson of I PP PBSI, Taufik Hidayat, stated that the federation currently needs a refresher in the coaching sector. He also hopes that the names that qualify can provide results that are not disappointing.

"This must be pro-contra. We want something better in the future. We want something different. We also don't guarantee the 2028 Olympics are good, but we are trying," he said.

Herry IP is recorded to have played a major role in the success of Indonesia's men's doubles and gave birth to many legends. He was later shifted to being the head coach of the mixed doubles since 2023.

When the PBSI opened the recruitment process, Herry IP entered the file. However, the tactician who is known as the Fire Dragon was not elected so he had to leave the PBSI National Training Center.

Taufik refused to elaborate on what factors made Herry IP not pass the technical selection. He emphasized that the currently selected coaches are the best of the rigorous process.

"If everything is opened, it will be difficult too. Let us know (why the concerned did not pass). This is the best. The results of the assessment, the results of the interview, and everything, are there," he said.

As long as he was active as a coach, Herry IP recorded a number of brilliant achievements. One of them is winning the 2000 Olympic gold medal in Sydney while handling Candra Wijaya/Tony Gunawan.

Herry IP's position in the mixed doubles will then be replaced by former Head of PBSI's Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky. Rionny will be assisted by Amon Sunaryo as assistant coach.
