Japan Open 2024: Fikri/Daniel Bend By Third Seeds

JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin failed to reach the final round of the Japan Open 2024.

They returned home in the semifinals after failing to take advantage of the advantage in the first game against the third seed from South Korea, Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae.

Fikri/Daniel performed well after the interval of the first game which they then won with a score of 21-12. However, in the next two games they could not do much and had to give up 15-21 and 19-21.

Daniel said that reaching the semifinals was their best step as the composition of a new partner.

"We as a new couple have played here four times. It feels like there is still a lot that needs to be evaluated again. Here the results are quite good to reach the semifinals, but we still can't be satisfied. It has to be improved individually so that it can be even more compact," he said.

Fikri/Daniel will next play their second tournament at the Korea Open next week. It was the Super 500 BWD tournament.

"To face the Korea Open next week, we have to prepare physically and mentally. We have to be better prepared," said Daniel.

Indonesia now just has to hope that the men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana will play after this against Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin from Malaysia.

Actually, Indonesia sent 10 representatives to this event, but the majority of them had returned before the semifinals.
