Austrian MotoGP Sprint Race Results 2024: Bagnaia Champion, Marquez Falls

JAKARTA - Francesco Bagnaia won the Austrian 2024 MotoGP Sprint Race at the Red Bull Ring Circuit on Saturday, August 17, 2024, WIB night.

Pecco, Bagnaia's nickname, took the top spot again after losing to Jorge Martin in the qualifying session.

Martin and Bagnaia started from the first and second positions. They were followed by Marc Marquez on the third grid when they started the Sprint Race.

The race starts. Martin, who is three points ahead of Bagnaia in the standings, is undergoing a series of Austrian MotoGP 2024 with injuries to his thumb.

However, he started the Sprint Race well and secured the leading position until the second lap.

Bagnaia was then able to overtake Martin on the next lap after the Pramac Racing rider received a penalty notification.

Martin lost one second for taking a shortcut. In fact, he had slumped after being overtaken by Marc Marquez.

The fight for second place got fiercer after Aleix Espargaro joined the group. Meanwhile, Bagnaia is getting more comfortable at the forefront without being bothered.

When there were five laps remaining, Martin took second place again after Marquez had an accident at Turn 3. This situation automatically made Espargaro move up to third place.

The composition of the front group did not change until the Sprint Race finished.

Enea Bastianini, who went wide on the first lap, regained fourth position.

Bagnaia and Martin finished Sprint with a draw score of 250 points. However, Pecco has the right to be at the top of the standings thanks to more wins.
