Angelina Jolie's children, Zahara and Maddox, apply for the removal of Brad Pitt's name

JAKARTA - Two children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Zahara and Maddox, have officially applied for the deletion of the name "Pitt" from their names. They also shared the application process through the Los Angeles Daily Journal.

The filing announced was related to California's official rules. Maddox filed on July 7, while Zahara filed on July 9.

Maddox filed for his legal name to be "Maddox Chivan Jolie" and Zahara filed for "Zahara Marley Jolie". Their applications have not been accepted because they both have to attend a hearing.

Maddox will attend a hearing on September 14, 2026 and a session for Zahara will be held on September 28, 2026.

The desire to change the name has been circulating since 2024. Launching People, it is reported that Brad Pitt has long not communicated with his children with Jolie.

Zahara's decision to legally change her name came after she dropped her father's last name when walking for graduation at Spelman College on May 17, 2026. Although listed as Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, her name was written as Zahara Marley Jolie when she was on stage.

Maddox first filed for a name change on May 28. He removed his father's last name when his name was written in the credits in Angelina Jolie's latest film, Couture. Maddox worked as an assistant director on the film.

Long before the two, Shiloh was the first to remove her father's name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie. Their daughter Vivienne also uses the name Vivienne Jolie without including the name Pitt.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated in 2016 after two years of marriage and 10 years of dating. Their divorce was confirmed in December 2024.
