JAKARTA - Liga 1 2024/2025 will start on August 9, 2024 and play the competition in a more assertive format. The President Director (Managing Director) of PT LIB, Ferry Paulus, emphasized that this new season league regulations will also follow FIFA rules.

The new rules implemented are the results of an evaluation conducted from previous seasons. One of the materials implemented is the player's intervention in the referee's decision in the field.

Related to that, Ferry Paulus said that Liga 1 would start implementing the latest regulations in accordance with what FIFA had implemented. He explained that the protest against the referee's current decision could only be carried out by the team captain.

"According to new regulations from IFAB and FIFA, only the captain has the right to protest against the referee," said Ferry Paulus when he was met after the launch of Liga 1 2024/2025 in the Central Jakarta area on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Ferry Paulus also said that there would be firm action regarding the players who protested excessively. It was in the form of card fees ranging from yellow to being sent off on the field on a red card if it wasn't the team captain who voiced objections.

The same thing was conveyed by the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, who was also present on the same occasion. He asked the players to respect every decision of the field justice.

Erick Thohir said that the implementation of the new system aims to make the match run clean and accountable.

"Then, the rules are also applied only the team captain may protest to the referee. This is in accordance with FIFA provisions," said Erick Thohir.
