Rio Waida Lifts Suitcase From The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA The journey of Indonesian wave surf athletes stopped in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics after finishing second in the elimination round.

Rio packed the suitcase earlier after appearing on Teahupo'o beach,village, Frenchung Islands, Sunday, July 28, 2024, noon local time, or Monday, July 29, 2024, morning WIB.

The 24-year-old surfer took part in Heat 3 and competed alongside South Africa's representative Jordy Smith.

In this appearance, Rio recorded his two best waves with a total of 5.40 points from each 4.67 points and 0.73 points.

His opponent won a total score of 9.50 points with the two best waves of 5.5 points and 4.00 points each to advance to the third round.

Ran aground in the second half was a no better result of his debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which was postponed for a year.

While in Japan, Rio was recorded to have stopped in the third or last 16 after losing to Japanese surfer Kanoa Igarashi, who later won a silver medal.

Apri/Fadia haven't actually played their last game in Group A, but the previous two defeats left them without a chance to make it to the knockout stages.

The champion Maryam March Maharani also experienced a failure. His move was stopped in the round of 16 after losing to Kosovo's representative, Distria Krasniqi.
