The 2024 Paris Olympics Is Also Colored By Evictions

JAKARTA The holding of the 2024 Paris Olympics was also colored by population evictions. A group called The Other Side of The Medal revealed this.

This group is a coalition of 100 non-governmental organizations (NGOs). They said that the 2024 Paris Olympics which were echoed as inclusive was a lie. This is evidenced by the eviction.

The biggest eviction occurred in Sene Saint Denis, a suburban area in northern Paris. This area is known as the poorest district in France. As many as 6,000 residents who live in slum settlements have been relocated due to the construction of Olympic facilities.

They were promised to live in a newly built flat. However, the selling price of flats of 7,000 euros per square meter is considered too expensive for residents in the Seine Saint Denis. Finally, the residents did not have a place to live, because they were not given a permanent accommodation solution.

The only thing the City Government wants is to expel everyone they don't want to meet. That's all it's been for months," said Mathieu Pastor, deputy of an NGO named 20eme Solidaire.

"Children are underage and everyone is just transported by bus. Transferred to Marseille, Orleans, or Angers for uncertainty," Pastor said increments, quoted by Euronews.

The Other Side of The Medal said there were 12,500 residents evicted in the past year. This figure jumped almost 40 percent compared to 2021-2022.
