Staying In Man City, Kevin De Bruyne Rejects Salary Of 20 Billion Rupiah Per Week

JAKARTA - Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne refuses a salary offer of 1 million or approximately 20 billion rupiah per week if he moves to Saudi Arabia. De Bruyne chose to stay in Man City and his contract would be extended.

De Bruyne has been said to be leaving Man City. Al-Ittihad, one of the elite clubs of the Pro Arab League, plans to bring De Bruyne. Even Al-Ittihad made an offer to the Belgian national team midfielder last January.

With his age at 33 and difficult to compete at the highest level, De Bruyne reportedly received an offer to move to Saudi Arabia. Moreover, he got a very high salary.

Yes, De Bruyne will pocket a salary of 1 million pounds or approximately 20 billion rupiah every week if he moves to Al-Ittihad.

"At my age, of course you are open to accepting any offer. It's a matter of a lot of money that I can accept towards the end of my career," De Bruyne told the HLN newspaper last June.

"Sometimes the offer makes you think about it. If I played there [Saudi Arabia] for only two years, I've earned a lot of money. The amount I've never had in 15 years of my career in football. In fact, I still can't get that much money," he said.

"Then you'll think what it all means. Right now I haven't thought about it," said De Bruyne again.

Coach Al-Ittihad Laurent Blanc is very confident De Bruyne accepted the offer and joined his team. However, the former France defender finally bit his finger. De Bruyne said he would not leave England and wanted to play another year in the Premier League.

The former Chelsea player and once defended Wolfsburg agreed with his wife, Michele, to keep their first child Mason Millian in England. They don't want their child to be forced to change schools because they have to come to Saudi Arabia.

Previously, Man City manager Pep Guardiola had stated that De Bruyne would not leave Etihad. Even though he was widely reported to have left, Man City still defended him.

"Kevin won't go," said Guardiola.

Not only did he get confirmation from Guardiola, he will also get a contract extension from Man City. De Bruyne's contract is only 12 months away. The club must immediately renew his contract if they don't want the player to be free of transfer.

"We will sit in a table in a few months. I once signed a contract on time," said De Bruyne.

De Bruyne himself joined Man City in 2015. Together with The Cityzens, he has won no less than 15 trophies. Last season, he rested for a long time because he had to undergo hamstring surgery.
