Italian Coach Luciano Spalletti Announces Squad 26 Players For Euro 2024

JAKARTA - The head coach of the Italian national team, Luciano Spalletti, announced the final squad of 26 players for the 2024 European Cup on Thursday, June 6. Midfielder Nicolo Barella remains in the squad despite missing their last game due to injury. Barella, who was the key player in Spalletti's plan, missed a 0-0 draw against Turkey on Tuesday, June 4, but a minor muscle injury was not enough to get the Inter Milan player out of the squad.

Federico Gatti, who was added to the interim squad after the withdrawal of defenders Francesco Acerbi and Giorgio Scalvini, remained in the team for Germany. While Ivan Provedel was the goalkeeper who had to miss. Provedel has been told to keep practicing, as there are doubts about Napoli's goalkeeper Alex Meret's fitness.

Samuele Ricci and Riccardo Orsolini are two other players from the interim squad who did not qualify. Orsolini started a goalless draw with Turkey, but the Bologna striker did not do enough to get a place in the final squad. Italy had one more warm-up game against Bosnia on Sunday, June 9, before they left for Germany to defend their title, in the difficult Group B where they will face Spain, Croatia, and Albania.
