Southgate Asks Bellingham Not To Be Euphoric

JAKARTA - Jude Bellingham is still celebrating Real Madrid's victory in the 2023/2024 Champions League final. However, England coach Gareth Southgate asked the midfielder not to overdo it.

Southgate ordered Bellingham to take enough rest before rejoining the England national team for preparations for Euro 2024.

The 53-year-old manager still gave Bellingham permission for a six-day holiday, including a missed test match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday, May 4, 2024, and against Iceland (June 7, 2024).

However, after the holiday ended, Southgate and Bellingham immediately returned both physically and psychologically when they joined the Three Lions squad on Saturday, May 8, 2024.

"The most important thing is rest and recovery. We will benefit from it."

"That's the obstacle of international football. You have to do the most important thing and for Jude and the team, it's about turning off and recovering psychologically. It's all about psychological freshness."

"He's had a fantastic season. Joining the biggest club in the world and performing like he's been doing all season is a great thing for him," Southgate said.

Bellingham will be the focus of the England national team at Euro 2024. He has shown consistency with Real Madrid.

No wonder, Southgate has high hopes for Bellingham in Germany later.

Moreover, the 20-year-old midfielder's motivation is on the rise as his contribution brings Real Madrid to the trebles of this season, La Liga, Spanish Supercopa, and Champions League.

"I'm very happy he won. His parents have to get very big praise because the way he appears in the interview is what he is. He is genuine. That's how he is every day," said Southgate, who still gives appreciation.

The England national team will start their journey at Euro 2024 on May 17, 2024 local time. Serbia will be their first opponent.
