Magnussen Refuses To Be Blamed In Monaco 2024 GP F1 Serious Accident

JAKARTA - Haas racer Kevin Magnussen refused to be blamed in a serious accident at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 (F1) which took place last weekend.

Magnussen is considered to have received punishment in an accident involving Sergio Perez and another Haas driver, Nico Hulkenberg, at the de Monaco Circuit, Sunday, May 26, 2024.

The Danish racer is considered too forced to overtake even if he does not get space. However, he also insisted that there was room he could use.

"From my point of view, the front of me was at the back of Perez and when he hit the wall, I was pushed against the wall and made contact with him," Magnussen was quoted as saying by Crash.

At the time of the incident, Perez, who was driving his racing car on the first lap of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, was flanked by Kevin on the right and Nico Hulkenberg on the other.

Nico's position was slightly behind Sergio, while Kevin seemed to be trying to overtake from the right so that a tire contact occurred. The contact made Perez's car out of control.

As a result, Perez's car turned right and was pushed onto the track's barrier wall. As a result, Nico was also hit by the sap because Perez's rear tire was dragged into his tire.

However, no racer has received punishment for this incident. Further investigation into this incident was not carried out by the Formula 1.

The decision surprised the Head of Team Red Bull, Christian Horner. He said the incident was serious enough that further investigations were needed, especially against Kevin.

"I'm surprised it wasn't investigated because it was a big enough incident. He (Kevin) not only damaged the race and Perez's car, he also damaged his team-mates' races," he said.

In this accident, Perez's car suffered the most damage. This caused the Red Bull team to suffer a loss of 3 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp48 billion.

A photographer was also affected by this incident and was immediately taken to the hospital. Luckily he was not seriously injured.
