Singapore Open 2024: Anthony Ginting Confidently Defends His Title

Anthony Ginting will appear at the Singapore Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is optimistic that he can maintain the title at the Singapore Open 2024 tournament which will take place this week.

The BWF Super 750 level tournament will be held from May 28 to June 2, 2024. Anthony in the last two editions is the champion.

"Self-confidence (to defend the title) must exist, but I'm not focused on that," Ginting said in a statement received.

Ginting last year came out as champions at the Singapore Open after in the final match defeating Danish representative Anders Antonsen, two straight games.

This year, the badminton player from West Java will start the struggle to defend his title against Malaysia's representative, Lee Zii Jia, in the round of 32, Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Ginting said that he did not want to impose himself on the target of defending the title even though there was confidence to do that.

"My focus is on how to implement a strategy properly, take care of your mentality, and keep your mind to show your best game," he said.

Ginting is one of three Indonesian men's singles who will appear at the Singapore Open 2024. The other two names are Jonatan Christie and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.

As part of the preparations, Ginting and his friends have tried out the Singapore Stadium match arena on Monday, May 27, 2024, afternoon local time.

"In the field test earlier, I don't think there will be any changes to last year. From the conditions of the field or the character of the shuttlecock is relatively the same," said the 2023 Asian champion.

Indonesia has sent a total of 11 representatives to the Singapore Open 2024. In detail, eight other representatives besides the men's singles are five men's doubles, and one women's singles, one women's doubles, and one mixed double.
