Losing Against Dortmund, Luis Enrique Yakin PSG Rises With Supporter Support

JAKARTA - The result disappointed Paris Saint-Germain in the first match of the Champions League semifinals. Dominating the game, but PSG were defeated by Borussia Dortmund 1-0. Coach Luis Enrique is optimistic that he will rise with support from supporters in the second match at home.

PSG had to admit Dortmund's superiority through Niclas Fuellkrug's goal in a duel at Signal Iduna Park Stadium, Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the morning WIB. However, the defeat did not close PSG's chances of qualifying for the final.

However, Kylian Mbappe et al had to work hard to turn things around. Because in the second match at home at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the morning, they had to win at least 2-0 to get rid of Dortmund.

On the other hand, Dortmund is enough to aim for a draw to win a ticket to the final. However, one goal victory clearly did not secure Dortmund's move. Moreover, they failed to dominate while playing at home.

Dortmund did play more effectively than PSG created many chances but none of them could be converted into goals.

At least two chances from Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi were supposed to score. Only their shot still hit the post.

"The game went well and both teams played good football, especially when each side had the ball. Both teams created many chances. This time, the opposing team was able to score goals and we failed to do so," said Enrique.

"It's not an easy game. The results of the match show that the match is a draw," he said again.

The former Barcelona coach said PSG's chances were not closed. The team will rise in the second match. Moreover, PSG will receive full support from supporters.

Enrique also expressed his appreciation for the support of supporters who came to Dortmund when the team played away matches.

In fact, he was impressed by their support when PSG was in a disadvantaged position and ultimately failed to equalize.

"Now, we go home and restore conditions. We have also thought and prepared ourselves for the second match," said Enrique.

"This is the first time in the knockout round we have had an away game first. In this match, our 3000 supporters did not stop singing and continued to sing. Even when we lost, they continued to party in Paris. That's what always happens before, during matches and after matches," he said.

They will also give their full support when PSG plays at home. Captain Marquinhos said support from supporters was very important to win the second match.

"Suporters are our strength. At home, supporters will support us. You can watch them be here to support us," said Marquinhos.

"Now, we hope for their full support in the second match. So we will also give everything for them. Supporters give the team additional energy and we will win the game," he said.

PSG is chasing the Champions League title for the first time. The French Ligue 1 team also has a chance to win trebles. They have won Ligue 1 and reached the French Cup final or Couple de France.
