Maarten Paes Officially Becomes An Indonesian Citizen

JAKARTA - Maarten Paes officially became an Indonesian citizen. He took an oath of allegiance at the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Paes' oath-taking was accompanied by three other people led by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, R. Andika Dwi Prasetya.

In his mandate, Andika advised those who had just been sworn in allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) so that after becoming Indonesian citizens (WNI) they must obey and obey the laws and regulations in force in Indonesia.

"I hope you give the best to the Nation and the State," said Andika.

Also present in taking the oath of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia were the Primary High Leader, PSSI Media Director, and the Head of PPNS for DKI Jakarta Province (RM Tamo Sijabat).

Maarten Paes is an Indonesian-Dutch-blooded goalkeeper. He has Indonesian blood from his grandparents.

Currently, the 25-year-old goalkeeper is defending Major League Soccer (MLS) club FC Dallas. He has also played for NEC (2016-2018), Utrecht (2018)-2022), and Jong Utrecht (2018).

In addition, Maarten Paes had defended the Dutch national team for the age group, from the beginning of U-19, U-20, to U-21.
