Ernando Ari: Rescue In Indonesia U-23 Victory Becomes A Sin In The AFF U-23 Cup

Ernando Ari Sutaryadi became the hero of Indonesia U-23 (doc. PSSI).

The goalkeeper for the U-23 Indonesian national team, Ernando Ari Sutaryadi, became one of the important figures in the victory over South Korea U-23 in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup quarter-finals.

Ernando acknowledged his rescue throughout this match as a mistake when he failed in the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup.

In August 2023, the U-23 Indonesian national team advanced to the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup final against Vietnam U-23.

The Garuda Muda squad failed to win the title after losing 5-6 on penalties in the top party.

Ernando, who was trusted to guard the crossbar, was unable even to ward off the opponent's penalty. He also failed to score when he was the executor.

It was this incident that made Ernando determined to perform even better on another occasion.

After successfully paying for the previous mistake and bringing the U-23 Indonesian national team forward to the semifinals, Ernando was not complacent.

He was determined to return to make Shin Tae-yong happier by bringing Garuda Muda to win the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

"After I paid for it (the past mistake) in this tournament, I am now determined to give (the title) to coach Shin Tae-yong," said Ernando again.

Ernando and Garuda Muda players managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup through a long struggle and hard work that was no joke.

Despite having played a 2-2 draw over South Korea U-23 until normal time, Ernando managed to keep his goal without conceding in two extra rounds. This situation then forced both teams to go on penalties to find the winner of the match.

It was at that moment that Ernando Ari again held a crucial role for the U-23 Indonesian national team. He successfully dismissed two penalties from the Taegeuk Warriors players and was able to score goals when he became the executor.

Garuda Muda finally won 11-10 and came out victorious in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup quarter-finals.
