Ester Gets Heavy Tasks In The 2024 Uber Cup

JAKARTA Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo has a heavier responsibility as the second women's singles in the 2024 Uber Cup which will start this weekend.

This is the second time Ester has entered the Indonesian squad for the event. Previously, she had been part of the Indonesian Uber team that appeared in 2021 in Aarhus, Denmark.

"It is undeniable that I have tensions because it is different from 2021. This time my responsibility is greater because it is the second single," said Ester.

After Denmark, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's younger brother missed the 2022 edition of the Uber Cup.

Ester said that she wanted to pay for the trust given to her. He was determined to prove himself against the singles of the two opponents, most of whom were ranked higher.

"I am happy to be trusted to fill the Indonesian Uber team again in 2024. I am excited. I believe in proving that I can carry out this task," said Ester.

The 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup will take place from 27 April to 5 May 2024. The Indonesian team for the Uber Cup is given a target to reach the semifinals.

Ester said that she and her friends had prepared well. The most important preparation is to hone mentally because potential opponents must be more experienced.

"I also have a lot to discuss with the coach to implement the right strategy," said Ester.

Indonesia has a title drought in the Uber Cup for 28 years. The last time the Uber Cup was brought back to the country was in 1996 which took place in Hong Kong.
