Niko Kovac Reportedly Will Replace Jurgen Klopp In Liverpool

JAKARTA - The name of former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac emerged as a Liverpool coach candidate next season to fill the void after Jurgen Klopp's death.

According to a Daily Mail report on Monday, Kovac did not have a club after being sacked by Wolfsburg in March after two years of coaching the German club.

Kovac joined Bayern Munich ahead of the 2018/2019 season and coached the club for a season and a half.

He then handled the US Monaco for two years before returning to the Bundesliga to join Wolfsburg.

This season, Wolfsburg has struggled to find his best form under the 52-year-old coach. Kovac was sacked after 11 games in a row without a win.

Wolfburg is currently ranked 14th with 28 points from 29 matches, two points adrift of the relegation zone.

Kovac's recent representatives were seen in London where they reportedly held talks with several Premier League teams.

The Croatian coach has also reportedly received a number of offers from several Bundesliga clubs.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are still trying to present the farewell trophy for Klopp at the end of the season. They will be eyeing a comeback against Atalanta in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals on Friday (19/4) early morning WIB. They suffered a 0-3 defeat at Anfield in the first leg.
