Nurul Akmal, Women's Weightlifting Athlete, Qualifies For The 2024 Paris Olympics

Indonesian women's lifter Nurul Akmal performed a clean and jerk lift in the +87 kilogram final

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) announced that Indonesian women's weightlifters, Nurul Akmal, had succeeded in making sure to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This success came after Nurul Akmal received a reallocation of the +81 kilogram class quota. This announcement was made through the official Ministry of Youth and Sports's Instagram account: @kemenpora, which was monitored in Jakarta on Thursday, April 11.

With this reallocation of quota, Nurul Akmal has officially become the 10th athlete from Indonesia to compete in the world's highest sporting event in Paris. Previously, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) had announced that nine other Indonesian athletes had pocketed competing tickets at the Paris Olympics, including weightlifters such as Eko Yuli Irawan and Rizky Juniansyah, as well as athletes from other sports such as archery, gymnastics, rock climbing, shooting, and surfing.

The general chairman of KOI, Raja Sapta Oktohari, stated that the number of athletes who qualify for the Paris Olympics still has the potential to increase because several sports are still undergoing the qualification process until June 2024. The medal target for the Paris Olympics will be set after all sports complete the qualification process.

Oktohari also emphasized that weightlifting has always been a matter of pride for Indonesia for always sending representatives and donating medals at every Olympics. He also asked for support from the Indonesian people so that weightlifting athletes can achieve brilliant achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"With the spirit and support of the community, hopefully in Paris 2024 we can win a gold medal," said Oktohari.

Meanwhile, Nurul Akmal expressed his gratitude for this opportunity and promised to give his best at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also thanked all those who had supported him on his way to the Olympics.

With more and more Indonesian athletes qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the hope of achieving brilliant achievements is getting bigger.
