JAKARTA - France's state money printing said the production of medals for the Paris Olympics was still going as planned, although the French state-owned staff launched protests and strike since last month.

About 50 employees rallied in front of the money printing center office in Paris on Monday.

They claim their smooth strike in the past two weeks has disrupted production for the Paris Olympics which will take place from July 26.

"The medal production does not stop," the money printing company was quoted as saying by AFP on Tuesday.

"All medals have been printed and we are in the final stage. We will send them on schedule and on time," the French state-owned company said.

The employees who rallied represented by the union demanded such an "Olympic bonus" as to be paid to other state employees, such as police and nurses who worked during the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The state money printing management rejected the charges, and vice versa is negotiating an annual salary increase for its 430 employees who are in charge of producing around 5,000 gold, silver and bronze medals for the Paris Olympics.

The Paris 2024 medal is made of recycled metal and each contains a small six-sided medal which is cut from a metal used as the original Eiffel Tower. The design was made by a luxury jewelry boutique in France, Chaumet.
