League 1 Schedule Postponed, Bali United Doesn't Want To Lose Momentum

BALI - The 2023/2024 Liga 1 football competition has been confirmed to have a schedule delay. Clubs, including the Bali United FC, were forced to have a long holiday.

For the team, it is important to keep a focus on achieving perfect results in the rest of the competition. For this reason, Bali United is now undergoing a training camp at Purnama Beach, Gianyar, Bali.

"The focus of the players in the competition will be lost. The coaching team must give players longer holidays even though the competition is not over yet," said Bali United Head Coach Stefano Cugurra in Gianyar, Bali, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 31.

The Brazilian coach revealed that currently the players have good momentum after the 30th home match managed to beat the Persija Jakarta visitors, Saturday (30/3).

He hopes that the good momentum will continue when competing against Persikabo 1973 in the 31st match scheduled for April 4.

"Currently we have good momentum. So it is better for us to be able to continue playing on April 4 against Persikabo. The situation will definitely be better than having to be postponed for quite a long time," he said.

Previously, the competition operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) announced to all 2023/2024 League 1 contestants regarding the postponement of the 31st week schedule starting on April 1 until the U-23 national team match in the U-23 Asian Cup is over.

In the PSSI letter Number 1367/UDN/815/III-2024 on March 30, 2024 regarding the postponement of the BRI Liga 1 competition in 2023/2024, it was stated that the decision to postpone the consideration of the interests of the Indonesian U-23 national team which will compete in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

The U23 Asian Cup will take place from April 15 to May 3 in Qatar.

The implementation of the 31st match of Liga 1 2023/2024 is planned to start in early May after the end of the U-23 Asian Cup.

The schedule for the 31st match until the last match of 34 and the Championship Series schedule will be rescheduled from the competition operator.

Currently, Bali United has a total of 52 points and is in third position in the Indonesian League 1 standings 2023/2024.

The first position is still occupied by Borneo FC with 70 points, then the second position is filled by Persib Bandung with 55 points, and in fourth position is occupied by Madura United with 47 points.

Based on the latest rules for competition operators, only four teams in the top four of the standings have the right to advance to the final round of the Championship Series to fight for the 2023/2024 Liga 1 trophy.
