The U-18 Basketball National Team Is Starting To Be Prepared For The 2024 FIBA Asia Cup U-18

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) has begun preparing the U-18 Women's Basketball National Team to face the FIBA U-18 Women's Asia Cup 2024 Division A.

The tournament will take place in Shenzhen, China, on June 24-30, 2024. Preparations begin with holding a national selection (selection) on March 22-24, 2024 at GOR Merpati, Bali.

The manager of the Putri U-18 Basketball National Team, Dedy Setiawan, explained that there were two selection channels carried out, namely the scouting of various championships that had taken place and recommendations from the Perbasi Provincial Government (Provincial Manager) throughout Indonesia.

"Later, players from these two lines will be directly selected simultaneously. After the selection, they will be drawn into 16 to 18 players," said Dedy.

Selection in this way was taken due to time constraints. In addition, the two routes above are taken because they can maximize the potential in the championships that have been running.

"The provincial leaders are also unlikely to just send players. We believe there are still many potential players in the area so we are waiting to include players from the board in each region," said Dedy.

The player who passes the selection will continue training at the training camp (TC). The plan, TC will be carried out until the tournament in China.

"During the training camp, we implemented promotions and relegation. So, the 18 names who passed the selection were not completely safe."

"If his appearance decreases, he will be replaced with other players on the previous selection list," said Dedy.
