Liga 1 2023/2024 Results: Borneo Extends Unbeaten Record After Beating Persebaya 2-1

JAKARTA - Borneo FC came from behind and secured a dramatic victory when they hosted Persebaya Surabaya in the 28th week of Liga 1 2023/2024.

Pesut Etam again earned three points when he appeared as host at Batakan Stadium, Balikpapan on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

The home game actually conceded first. The host's supporters were silent after Persebaya's substitute, Tino Firmansyah, scored in the 85th minute. The goal also lasted until injury time.

Luckily, Borneo, who was already on the verge of losing, scored the equalizer goal in the 90+2nd minute. Goals were created from the error of Bajul Ijo's striker, Kasim Botan, who broke into his own goal.

The hosts brought their hopes to win. Sure enough, Pesut Etam again scored a goal six minutes after the opener, 90+8 minutes to be exact. Borneo's winning goal was contributed by Nul Zikrak.

No more goals were created and Borneo maintained their lead 2-1 until the game was over.

This result makes it increasingly difficult for Borneo's position at the top of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings to be chased by other teams.

They have now collected 66 points from 28 matches. The number of points is far ahead of Persib Bandung who trailed in second place.

Currently, Maung Bandung has only secured 48 points from 27 matches.

Seeing such a big difference, Borneo's dream to become a champion this season is wide open. Moreover, they appeared quite consistent this season and only felt two defeats.

Borneo has confirmed the steps to the 2023/2024 League 1 Championship Series because his position can no longer be investigated.

In addition, the victory over Persebaya extended Borneo FC's unbeaten record.
