JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, encouraged the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) to immediately regenerate athletes.

Dito conveyed this when attending the inauguration ceremony for the FPTI management for the 2023-2027 period at Wisma Kemenpora, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, March 4, 2024.

"Don't doubt our commitment to rock climbing. Whatever FPTI needs in athlete regeneration and preparing athletes on the world stage, the Ministry of Youth and Sports must support 100 percent," said Dito.

Rock climbing will be one of Indonesia's mainstay sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July-August 2024. This sport has already passed two athletes to the latest event.

The two athletes in question are Rahmad Adi Mulyono and Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi. FPTI itself is optimistic that there is still a chance to add two more athletes.

Dito said FPTI needed to make good preparations to welcome the 2024 Paris Olympics. He hopes that this sport can contribute gold and make history there.

"After that, I hope that the central management together with provincial administrators can immediately make championships in the regions and nationally to ensure the regeneration of athletes," he said.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the FPTI, Yenny Wahid, said that in the future his party would strengthen the FPTI organization to be more solid and contribute to improving the achievements of Indonesian rock climbing athletes.

"Many national and international agendas are still the duty of the FPTI. Including to send representatives to compete in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. FPTI is required to work quickly and work hard," said Yenny.

Rock climbing is expected to make history in Paris later. They have the opportunity to become a sport outside of badminton that is able to contribute gold for the first time in Indonesia's history of participating in the Olympics.
