Ante Rebic Takes Milan To Cut Point Margin With Inter

JAKARTA - Ante Rebic scored a goal to secure AC Milan's 2-1 victory over AS Roma in the Italian League match which was played at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Monday morning Western Indonesia Time.

The additional three points make the second-ranked Milan team now back four points adrift of leaders Inter Milan. Milan collected 52 points, while Roma remained in the fifth position with a collection of 44 points.

Quoting Antara, Milan came out to attack from the start. Zlatan Ibrahimovic forced goalkeeper Pau Lopez, and then Fikayo Tomori scored a goal that was denied for offside.

Ibrahimovic snatched the ball from an offended Lopez after taking a Federico Fazio pass, but the Sweden player's heel shot just went wide. A few moments later Rebic unleashed a shot which goalkeeper Lopez was able to push off.

Milan was only able to break the deadlock in the 43rd minute with a penalty. The referee awarded a penalty for the violation committed by Fazio against Davide Calabria, after a VAR review it was determined that the violation occurred in the forbidden box. Regular Milan executor Frank Kessie has successfully carried out his duties.

Roma equalized after halftime, in the 50th minute to be precise. After receiving a pass from Leonardo Spinazzola, Veretout released a curling right-footed shot into the top right corner of the Milan goal. It was Veretout's tenth goal of the season.

The 1-1 draw did not last long as Milan restored their lead in the 58th minute. Goalkeeper Lopez made a mistake that allowed Alexis Saelemaekers to control the ball, the ball was then given to Rebic, who spun and outwitted Mancini, to then put the ball into the far left corner of the net.

After Rebic's goal, both teams had a number of chances. Milan got it from substitute Rafael Leao, then Roma had a good chance of Mkhitaryan's shot hitting the post.

In the final phase of the match, Roma even had two good opportunities to equalize. But Pedro failed to make a perfect finish and Mkhitaryan's fierce shot was aimed straight at keeper Donnarumma.

In the next round of matches played at midweek, Milan will host Udinese on Wednesday, March 3, while Roma visits Fiorentina headquarters on the same day.
