Continuing To Explore Player Potential For The National Team, Shin Tae-yong Visits The Netherlands To Find Descendants

JAKARTA - The effort of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong to explore the potential of quality players in the national team is still not over. In order to complete that goal, Shin even went directly to the Netherlands to find talent for descendants.

The South Korean coach will be in the Netherlands for two weeks to find the talents of Indonesian players.

"I immediately went to the Netherlands and stayed for about two weeks to find players of descent (Indonesia) once again," said Shin Tae-yong, quoted from Korean media, Best Eleven on Sunday, February 25.

They are not players who do not have mixed blood, they are Indonesian-blooded players. We need to take advantage of these players," said the coach.

Since leading the Indonesian national team in December 2019, Shin Tae-yong has signed seven naturalized players for the Garuda Squad.

The seven players are Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh, Shayne Pattynama, Ivar Jenner, Rafael Struick, Justin Hubner, and Jay Idzes.

Although many players are of descent, for Shin Tae-yong it is not an easy job because most players rarely get minutes to play at the club.

"Regarding naturalized players, we will look for footballers who have Indonesian blood. I think there are better players," he said.

"If you look at it, it's not easy. Subordinates rarely play for their team," said Shin Tae-yong.

"On the other hand, he performs more for the national team. This is quite a difficult job for us," he said.

Shin Tae-yong's statement is not unfounded, let's say Elkan Baggott is one example of a player who has minimal minutes of playing at the club level, but has always been an option in the national team.
