Stephanie Widjaja Brings Indonesia To A Perfect Win Over Hong Kong At BATC 2024

JAKARTA Stephanie Widjaja's women's singles brought Indonesia to make a perfect record in the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) group phase after winning in the last match against Hong Kong.

Stephanie Widjaja ensured that Indonesia won 5-0 over Hong Kong in two straight games 21-13 and 21-10 against Liang Ka Wing.

The last match was held at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, Thursday, February 15, 2024.

"Praise God I am grateful. Everything went smoothly and I was given a win. I was able to answer my trust by winning. Thank God Indonesia was finally able to win 5-0 over Hong Kong," said Stephanie after the match.

Before Stephanie, Indonesia had led 4-0 over Hong Kong through the victory of Putri Kusuma Wardani, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto.

"When I played. Indeed, Indonesia was already 4-0 up. Even so, I also want to win. I also have a personal target to be able to win and contribute points for the team," said Stephanie.

The victory over Hong Kong made Indonesia wipe out the group stage match. Indonesia also qualified for the quarter-finals with the status of Group X winners.

Previously, in the group's first match, Indonesia also won 5-0 against Kazakhstan, which was definitely stopped in the group because they finished as caretakers.

"To face the quarter-finals, if you are appointed again to play, I certainly have to be ready. Indeed, I have to be better at adapting to the field," said Stephanie.
