Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024 Results: Indonesia To Quarter Finals With Group Champion Status

JAKARTA The Indonesian women's badminton team advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) with the status of group winners.

Indonesia got tickets for the quarter-finals after the women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo won two straight games 21-14 and 21-13 over Yeung Sum Yee at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, Thursday, February 15, 2024.

The results obtained by Ester made Indonesia 3-0 ahead of the Hong Kong women's team. This victory also made Ester and her friends extend their journey with their status as winners of Group X.

In the final group stage match, Indonesia got the first point from the women's singles Kusuma Wardani. Putri came down against Lo Sin Yan Happy and won straight games with a final score of 21-14 and 21-16.

Indonesia then increased its advantage to 2-0 through the women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

The pair struggled to rise from defeat in the first game to win dramatically through a rubber game over Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam with a score of 19-21, 21-10, and 21-19.

Previously, in the first match of the group phase, Indonesia successfully crushed Kazakhstan with a landslide score of 5-0. In that victory, Ester and Putri were the first two points contributors.

Febriana/Amalia were not played at that time. The two women's doubles that played were the couple Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose.

Meanwhile, another point for Indonesia in this match was contributed by the women's singles Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, who in the match against Hong Kong was rested by the coaching team.
