Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024 Results: Indonesia Gilas Saudi Arabia 5-0

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo opened Indonesia's victory at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The Indonesian men's badminton team won 5-0 over Saudi Arabia in the first match of the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) Group D preliminary.

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and his friends appeared dominant against opponents in Selangor, Malaysia, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, afternoon WIB. The longest match of five matches was 28 minutes.

The longest match occurred when Chico came down against Mahd Syaikh. Appearing in the first match, Chico managed to beat his opponent in two straight games with a final score of 21-6 and 21-10.

The men's singles, Alwi Farhan, then increased Indonesia's advantage to 2-0 in the second match. Alwi successfully beat his opponent, Rally Al Ghamdi, with a landslide score of 21-2 and 21-10.

Indonesia's victory was then determined in the third match featuring Yohanes Saut Marcellyno. Saut also won two straight games 21-3 and 21-2 over Yazan Saigh in 20 minutes.

Two Indonesian victories were won by the men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and the winning pair of the All England 2022, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

Leo/Daniel only needed 19 minutes to stop loading Al Ghamdi/Almaliki Fahad with a score of 21-5 and 21-4. Meanwhile, Bagas/Fikri defeated the Yazan Saigh/Mahd Shaikh pair in two games, 21-7 and 21-7.

Indonesia will still face South Korea and the United Arab Emirates in the next two preliminary matches. South Korea is the most serious opponent who will trouble Indonesia.

Before the men's team, Indonesia through the women's team also won with a score of 5-0 over Kazakhstan in the group's first match.
