Indra Sjafri Implements Promotions In The U-20 Indonesian National Team To The 2024 AFF U-19 Cup

Indra Sjafri implemented promotions in the U-20 Indonesian national team (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, said that he would continue to implement the promotion and relegation system until the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup in July 2024.

Since its formation in December 2023, Indonesia U-20 is projected to penetrate and appear at the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile. However, before starting on that agenda, the first test that must be passed by the U-20 Indonesian national team is the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup.

In order to determine the players who deserve to be in the squad, Indra Sjafri chose a pattern of promotion to look for the best players.

"So, for the purpose of forming this team, how long? Until the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup. Their first test will be at the AFF," said Indra Sjafri in his statement quoted Monday, January 12, 2024.

There are a number of agendas that have been carried out by the players in the training camp, including trials. From that agenda, Indra Sjafri said he had several series of tests that had to be carried out so that he knew which players had quality.

Indra also continues to communicate with the physical coaches of their respective clubs to see the progress of their players if they return to the club for a while.

"We only need to see whether they are of high quality or not. In addition, taking physical, psychological, and health tests are the background for the reasons they were chosen," he said.

"We will return the players to the club. First, I have asked the physical trainer (Indonesian U-20 National Team) to communicate with the club's physical trainers," he said.
