Jurgen Klinsmann Refuses To Withdraw After Failing To Bring South Korea To The 2023 Asian Cup Final

JAKARTA - South Korean coach Jurgen Klinsmann failed to get his team through the 2023 Asian Cup finals. After that failure, Klinsmann refused to resign from his position.

South Korea appeared in the semifinals against Jordan. In the match which was held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Taegeuk Warriors lost 0-2 to their opponents and stopped their steps.

After his team's steps were stuck in the semifinals, Klinsmann was asked about his next plan. Will the coach resign? However, Klinsmann has firmly said that no plans will be decided by him, including resigning.

"I don't plan to do anything," Klinsmann said at a press conference after the match.

"I plan to analyze this tournament. Back to South Korea and of course talk to the federation about what is good and what is not so good in the tournament," Klinsmann said.

Klinsmann said the failure in the 2023 Asian Cup was the responsibility of the coach. He is determined to stay in order to ensure a better future for South Korean football.

"I think there are a lot of good things we see. This is a growing team, a team that still has to grow towards the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada in the next two and a half years," Klinsmann said.

"Obviously, proof in qualifying is very difficult. So, we still have a lot of work to do. Apart from that, I don't think about anything," said Klinsmann.
