Anthony Joshua Claims To Be The Best Boxer In England

JAKARTA The former world heavyweight champion twice, Anthony Joshua, claims he is the best boxer from England at this time.

His remarks came in response to praise that often places current WBC heavyweight belt holders, Tyson Fury, as the best boxer in the heavyweight division. Fury was placed in that position because he had beaten the best names, such as Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko.

This praise irritated Anthony Joshua. When he talked about who the heavyweight fighter from England was, he refused to accept that there were other boxers above him.

"I am the top heavyweight boxer in England," Joshua told a recent news conference, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

In the UK, Joshua and Fury are the best at the moment. However, at the world level there are many heavyweight boxers who are competitors to the two names, such as Zhilei Zhang, Filip Hrgovic, Jared Anderson, and Joseph Parker.

Those names are a serious threat to Joshua and Fury. However, Joshua refuses to think of a wider level but chooses to focus on who is best in England at this time.

"I actually don't really care about the world. I'm trying to conquer my hometown," said Joshua.

Joshua's claim will be answered next month when Fury takes the ring against Oleksandr Usyk to win the undisputed world heavyweight champion. The duel will take place on February 17, 2024.

The fighter, who lost to the clashes, is expected to implement a rematch clause as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Joshua doesn't just sit pretty well, but will face former UFC heavyweight world champion Francis Ngannou.

Joshua vs Ngannou will officially duel on March 8, 2024. If Joshua wins then he will most likely challenge winner of Fury's fight against Usyk.
