Franz Beckenbauer Buried In Munich City, Bayern Prepares Warning At Allianz Arena

JAKARTA - Franz Beckenbauer was buried in Munich in a small private ceremony on Friday, January 12, 2024, local time.

Tabloid Bild reported Beckenbauer, who died on Sunday, January 7, 2024, was buried at the Perlacher Forest cemetery, just two kilometers from where he grew up on the outskirts of Munich.

Photographs show Beckenbauer's coffin covered in flowers and carried through a snow-covered cemetery south of the Bavarian capital.

He was buried beside his son, Stephan, who died of a brain tumor at the age of 46 in 2015. Beckenbauer's parents were also buried in the cemetery.

Friday's death was limited to a small number of friends and family.

Franz Beckenbauer is one of three people who won the World Cup as a player and coach. The world mourns the loss of a great footballer at the age of 78.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is here for his final tribute as well as a great acknowledgment of one of Germany's great athletes.

"With Franz Beckenbauer, our country has lost great footballers, athletes and individuals," said a spokesman for the German Chancellor.

Meanwhile, Beckenbauer's former club Bayern Munich had planned a public warning on January 19, 2024 at the Allianz Arena.

The event at the 75,000-seat stadium will be open to the public and broadcast on German television.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer said that the Allianz Arena is the ideal place.

"This stadium will not exist without him (Franz Beckenbauer). This should be a memorial service for everyone, along with fans and friends."

In addition, Bayern Munich has planned a number of events, including warming up wearing the famous number five Beckenbauer and will play on a T-shirt marked 'Danke, Franz' (thank you, Franz).

The uniform will be auctioned off and the results will be donated to the Franz Beckenbauer Federation.

After Beckenbauer's funeral, the entire Bundesliga match commemorated the legend's death by a moment of silence before kick-off.

Beckenbauer spent his last years in the city of Salzburg, Austria, in poor health conditions and rarely appeared in public.

He has won many titles with Munich and the German national team. Beckenbauer with Mario Zagallo and Didier Deschamps are football figures who won the World Cup as players and coaches.
