Shin Tae-yong Disappointed That The Indonesian National Team Was Slaughtered 0-5 By Iran In The Last Trial

The Indonesian national team lost 0-5 to Iran in the last trial (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, was disappointed with the results achieved by his team in the last test match ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup. In the match against Iran, the coach highlighted the back line of his squad.

The Indonesian national team underwent the third test match in a training camp (TC) against Iran. The match was held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 and ended with the defeat of the Garuda Squad 0-5.

The crushing defeat was clearly disappointing, but Shin Tae-yong still considered that his players had worked hard in the third test match.

"If you look at the results of the match, it's disappointing, but the players have worked hard. Judging from the content of the match, it's fine, it doesn't matter," said Shin Tae-yong in a PSSI statement on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

However, this match remains the evaluation of the South Korean coach. In the 0-5 defeat, Shin Tae-yong mentioned the back line that often makes mistakes so that it is easy to concede from Iran.

"Indeed, there have been several mistakes from our back line. Moreover, from the three conceded small goals, it is from our own mistakes," said Shin Tae-yong.

In that match, Iran managed to score three goals in the first half. The opening goal was scored by players playing with Brentford in the Premier League, Saman Ghoddos, thenrouzbeh Cheshmi and Saman Fallah to the scoreboard.

In the second half, Amir Ghalenoei's team managed to add two more goals. The result could not be separated from Mehdi Ghazedi's execution in the 71st and 87th minutes. The match ended with a score of 5-0 for Iran's victory.

With a crushing defeat to the third trial agenda, it means that the Garuda Squad is recorded to always lose ahead of appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup.

This is clearly a record for Shin Tae-yong. Moreover, the team will play the inaugural match of the 2023 Asian Cup against Iraq on January 15, 2024.
