PSSI Deputy Is Sure That The Indonesian National Team Will Qualify For The Last 16 Of The 2023 Asian Cup

PSSI Deputy General Chair Zainudin Amali is optimistic about the target of the Indonesian national team in the 2023 Asian Cup (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - PSSI Deputy General Chair (Waketum) Zainudin Amali participated in the agenda of the Indonesian national team undergoing a training camp (TC) in Turkey.

At this moment, Waketum is optimistic about the target of the team who want to penetrate the round of 16 in the 2023 Asian Cup.

Currently Shin Tae-yong's team is in Antalya, Turkey, in preparation. The Garuda squad will appear in the 2023 Asian Cup which will be held in Qatar on January 12-10 February 2024.

In the 2023 Asian Cup, the Indonesian national team will encounter a fairly tough road. The reason is, they are in Group D with Japan, Iraq, and Vietnam.

Although he will face an opponent who is not easy, Shin Tae-yong has announced the target that he wants his team to qualify until the round of 16. The PSSI Deputy General welcomed the target.

Zainudin Amali said, the target set by Shin Tae-yong was quite realistic. Moreover, so far the South Korean coach has also been quite active in reporting his team's development to the federation.

"Of course, as coach Shin Tae-yong has said, he targets us to qualify for the last 16."

"That's what we expected. The Federation must be realistic," said Zainudin Amali in a short video quoted Monday, December 25, 2023.

The General Chairperson (PSSI) always discusses with the coach the extent of the abilities of these children. We also cannot target grandiose things. We are realistic with our own conditions," continued the man who once served as Menpora.

During preparations in Turkey, the Garuda Squad was not just undergoing training. Shin Tae-yong's team will also undergo several test matches against Libya.

Reflecting on the schedule, Zainudin Amali said it was an effort comparable to the target set by Shin Tae-yong.

"So, as coach Shin Tae-yong said, he will try us (the Indonesian national team) to qualify for the last 16, yes, we'll just have to wait," said Zainudin Amali.

Indonesia's real chances are not only as group winners and runners-up to qualify for the round of 16. The preliminary round which was divided into six groups made the four teams in the third best position able to advance to the round of 16.
