Novak Djokovic Is Considered Difficult To Realize Golden Slam Dreams
Novak Djokovic hopes to get a Golden Slam in 2024 (doc. Special).

JAKARTA Former Spanish tennis player, Alex Markitja, thinks it's a bit difficult for Novak Djokovic to realize his dream of winning the Golden Slam next year.

To achieve the Golden Slam, Djokovic must win all four Grand Slam tournaments, namely the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open and receive gold medals at the Olympics in one calendar year.

This opportunity is open for Djokovic next year because there will be the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Serbian has never won a gold medal in the quadrennial event.

"I think it's going to be a bit surprising (to win the Golden Slam). Even though his game has increased so much, (it's still a fact) he's getting older," Corretja said, quoted by Eurosport.

To be able to lift the Golden Slam, Djokovic must address his younger opponents, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev.

The names have previously beaten Djokovic so their chances of returning to the Serbian dream are quite open.

"I'm sure. I'm sure that (Carlos) Alcaraz is ready to play well. I'm sure Sinner will be ready to play well. (Daniil) Medvedev, (Alexander) Zverev, (Holger) Rune, and (Andrey) Rublev have also played very well," said Galitja.

Djokovic last year successfully earned three Grand Slam titles. Wimbledon is the only big title missing from his collection after being beaten by Alcaraz in the final.

The three additional Grand Slam titles made Djokovic the most successful tennis player in the men's singles history.

He has two Grand Slam trophies ahead of Rafael Nadal who is in second place and four trophies from retired Roger Federer.

Previously, last month Djokovic said he wanted to add to the collection of Golden Slams in his career. The current achievement is only owned by former German tennis player, Steffi Graf.

"Yes, I can win four titles (Grand Slam) and Olympic gold medals. I always have the highest ambitions and goals. It won't be different for next year," said Djokovic.
