Syed Modi India 2023: Marcus/Rayhan Debut Ends Bitterly

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah, made their bitter debut at Syed Modi India International 2023.

They were immediately eliminated in the first round of the BWF Super 300 event after losing two straight games 17-21 and 14-21 against the French pair, Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Marcus/Rayhan took the first point, but immediately lost five points in a row after that. However, they were able to cut the score to 9-11 in the first game interval.

After being uncomfortable, Marcus/Rayhan trailed by a distance of one point twice 10-11 and 11-12. However, the opponent widened the difference to 18-11.

Indonesian representatives do not want to lose and immediately reply to five points in a row. However, Lucas/Ronan again found momentum to secure the first game.

Marcus/Rayhan only added one point after that so Lucas/Ronan comfortably had a five-point advantage at rest.

Marcus/Rayhan's efforts to cut the gap in the very wide score went difficult afterward. Their numbers stalled so that the opponent comfortably reached match point 20-13.

After the first failed attempt, Lucas/Ronan immediately did not waste a second chance. They managed to break Marcus/Rayhan's hopes with the final position 20-14.

Before Marcus/Rayhan, the men's singles Shesar Hiren Rhustavito had already run aground. Meanwhile, Alwi Farhan managed to keep Indonesia's hopes by qualifying for the second round.
