Syed Modi India 2023: Alwi Farhan Qualifies For The Second Round

Men's singles badminton player Alwi Farhan qualified for the second round of Syed Modi India International (Jnstagram/@alwifarhanalhasny).

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player, Alwi Farhan, maintained Indonesia's hope by qualifying for the second round of Syed Modi India International 2023.

Alwi locked his place in the round of 16 after winning two straight games 21-17 and 21-12 against Malaysia's representatives at Badminton Academy, India, Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

At the beginning of the first game, Alwi immediately shocked his opponent by securing nine consecutive points. He lost five points after that before taking the lead at the interval.

After the break, the Malaysian representative responded very well. He has been behind several times to just one point, but did not get the moment to equalize the score.

In the second game, Alwi again appeared dominant with three consecutive points. He then continued with six consecutive points to lead 9-2. He then closed the interval with a seven-point advantage.

After that, Alwi continued to keep his distance from the score with a 19-12 advantage. When he got the match point, he immediately finished the match in the first attempt.

In the round of 16, Thursday, November 30, 2023, Alwi will return to meet another Malaysian representative, namely Justin Hoh. Justin himself qualified after stopping his compatriot, Leong Jun Hao.

Alwi is the only Indonesian men's singles left. Previously, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito first ran aground in the first half after losing against Cheam June Wei (Malaysia).
