England U-17 National Team Coach Says Supporting Atmosphere At JIS Is Great

JAKARTA - England U-17 national team coach Ryan Garry was impressed by the atmosphere of the supporters who came to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). This happened during the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The Young Lions played three Group C preliminary matches at JIS. The result was not too disappointing, despite being in one of the strong groups, England were able to come out as leaders to beat defending champions Brazil and tough teams in the Asian zone, Iran.

"During three matches at this stadium (Jakarta International Stadium) is very impressive. The atmosphere is great and we enjoy performing here." Ryan Garry said quoting Antara.

The former Arsenal player revealed that his team gained additional energy through the support of fantastic Indonesian fans. Ryan revealed that he did not focus too much on managing the location of his team's match in the round of 16 but he said that playing at JIS in the round of 16.

"We get support and energy from fantastic locals. I don't pay attention to the location of the next match, I just focus on the game specifically. But returning to this stadium, it will be fun for the next game," said the 40-year-old coach.

In the last match of Group C, England had to lose to Brazil with a narrow score of 1-2. Two goals from Brazil scored by Kaua Elias and Da Mata can only be rewarded with one goal through the penalty spot by Joel Ndala.

Regarding this minor note, Ryan Garry revealed that he was still happy with the performance of his team because they were able to control the game throughout the 90 minutes of the match even though the number of goals lost to Brazil.

"This is a good game, I am very happy with the performance and energy of the players in controlling the game. You can see how many chances we have scored, unfortunately we lost the deficit by one goal and had to accept that," Ryan Garry said. The result of the defeat to Brazil did not make England change in the standings. The final standings in Group C put England at the top with six points. While Brazil, who are in second place and Iran, who are in third place, have both collected six points but lost the number of goals productivity from The Young Lions.
